Sentimental Much?

**Deep breath out**

And now it's time to relax and reflect.

It's been a busy week.  The last I wrote was before my friends wedding.  A wedding that I got to sit back and watch without thinking about my next shot.  Don't get me wrong.  I LOVE taking photos of weddings.  But it isn't often that I get to sit down and watch and socialise.  And dance.  Boy I love dancing.  I know I look like a doosh when I cut up the dance floor, but I really don't care.  Arms flailing, fancy footwork, singing the few parts of the song that I actually know at the top of my lungs, ah it's so much fun.  I've got no rhythm but I've sure got the passion.

But back to the wedding.
I love this couple.  They know how to have fun.  And they know the meaning of family.

It was a touching ceremony and the speeches were a wonderful reflection on the effect these two have on their family.  I say family because when you are a friend with Eamon or Sya, you are a member of their family.  Weddings have the tendency to bring out the best in people, this one was no exception.  I saw a lot of love there.  And I felt bonded with many.  It's so wonderful to all be brought together to celebrate a couples commitment to each other.  I realize that I sound a little sentimental, perhaps a little cliche. That's cool.  I'm okay with being a romantic.  It's better than being a cynic.

I also love how watching friends marry makes you cherish what you have already. Phil and I caught each others eye often and smiled our little "I know" smiles.  And we got to dance to "you look wonderful tonight" again.  Their first song was the first song we danced to eight years ago.

And there is nothing like having time away from your kids to make you appreciate just how cool they are.

We celebrated a 5th birthday yesterday.
Five years of parenthood.  Five hard, but rewarding years.

Here is were I could get REALLY sentimental, but to be honest, I think I'm a bit emotionally tired to go there.  It's been a big two days for us.   Two parties - one with 17 kids, a smattering of parents and cake smooshed into the floor, and another with two sets of grandparents, one set of great grandparents and cousins and Auntie & Uncle.  Two awesome cakes (Phil took out the prize for the great cake off...guess who will be doing all future cakes?)  Good friends stayed over the night and I had to be rude and excuse myself early to sneak off to bed (well, late for me - I need a 10pm bedtime) because I couldn't stay awake any longer. Tonight's tea consists of left over party food (fitting, as this mornings breakfast consisted of left over spring rolls...)  and tonight's activities include watching a movie before an early night.

It was a full on week, but totally worth it.  My body is tired but my heart is full.
